It’s so hard to be grateful…

… When you’re feeling low and when it seems like everything is going against you.

When you’ve got a million things to do and no time to finish any of them.

When you’ve got places to be and not enough fuel on which to run (literally and figuratively).

When you’re close to scrapping-the-barrel broke.

When a lot of things around you are falling apart, and you’ve got nothing to fix them with.

When you’ve got almost impossible duties to fulfill, and crazy miracles to perform.

When you’re questioning decisions that you’ve made and are bordering on regret.

BUT

This is exactly when you need to exercise gratefulness, which during tough times can take a lot of discipline.

Grateful that you’ve got things to do and are still alive to at least attend to them.

Grateful that you’ve got places to be in and are welcome where you go.

Grateful that, as empty as they may be, you’ve got a bank account and a wallet to fill.

Grateful for whatever things you may have, as rundown as they may be.

Grateful that someone trusts you enough to perform miracles for them.

Grateful that you have the freedom to make your own decisions, and the luxury to think back on them (whether with regret or otherwise).

So especially during those days when it’s almost impossible to be grateful, it’s great to see that there are still the little things that can make us change our minds.
